The University of Newcastle’s School of Creative Industries and The Wollotuka Institute are excited to present this killer line-up of some of Australia’s best emerging and established Indigenous and non-Indigenous musicians in a night of unforgettable music.

Featuring:
The Last Kinection
JayTeeHazard (DJ set)
Jacob Ridgeway & band
David Leha
Chris Tamwoy (QLD)
Waria

Kicking off the night is singer songwriter Waria. A current University of Newcastle Bachelor of Music student, Kat Waria has performed on many stages all over the country, most recently at the Tamworth Country Music Festival and Festival of Indigenous Rugby League for the NRL.

David Leha is well known to many as Radical Son, but tonight will deliver a unique and not be to missed performance alongside University of Newcastle award winning chamber choir Echology.

Chris Tamwoy joins us from Brisbane and is a self-taught guitarist with a unique playing style who has played a range of highlight gigs including Byron Bay Blues Festival 25th Anniversary, Woodford Folk Festival (QLD), Port Fairy Folk Festival (VIC), Darwin Festival, and many other shows throughout Australia and the Torres Strait Islands.

Jacob Ridgeway is a singer/songwriter/performer based in Newcastle, NSW and is of First Nations (Worimi and Kamilaroi) descent. Jacob’s style is a contemporary-pop fusion of raspy soulful vocals with country inspired lyricism, inspired by Troy Cassar-Daley, Keith Urban, Justin Timberlake and Boyz II Men. Performing alongside mates and other Bachelor of Music students and alumni, Jacob is one to watch.

Special guests The Last Kinection take the stage in a rare Newcastle performance. MC’s Weno and Nay, with DJ and Producer Jayteehazard, have established themselves as an empowering lyric-driven group with melodic production and progressive hip hop feel, led with Indigenous heart and soul. Tackling issues facing Australia has become part of their mantra. Great humour and captivating entertainment is what gives TLK’s personality such charm.

Limited pre-sold tickets only are available for this show so don’t miss out! www.events.ticketbooth.com.au/event/baraya
