First Beige, Brisbane’s favourite auteurs of aural bliss, today return with their latest single, ‘Desire’. Oozing with flavors of 70s disco and jazz, ‘Desire’ brings genre-defying styles to the band’s catalogue and carries with it the promise of new live shows from the 6-piece.
To accompany the new single, the band are also thrilled to unveil the music video for ‘Desire’, pairing sophisticated styling with their signature brand of laidback cool. The new release comes as a taste of First Beige’s forthcoming EP, ‘Mirrors’, due for release later this year, and also follows the news of their signing to New World Artists.
The ‘Desire’ clip, filmed at Brisbane’s iconic Old Museum, stars First Beige, alongside Josh Coxon, Kimi Liddell, Ruby Champan, Elli Webb and David Chappell.
The video saw the band’s own David Versace act as art director, and producer, in collaboration with Jay Palmer. Palmer’s direction, editing and cinematography, alongside camera operation from Nick Maguire, and camera and lighting assistance from Andre Cois and Ben Allen delivers a 70s inspired flick that’s hard to look past.
The Mirrors EP was recorded mixed produced at Sampology’s studio, with additional touches recorded at David Versace's home and Oscar Borschmann's home in early 2019.
Front man David Versace’s says the group’s mission for ‘Desire’ and beyond was simple, “I really wanted to make a dance EP this time round. I've been writing and playing music for a couple of years now and realized we get the biggest kick out of simple grooves and making people dance”.
