The Appointments are dropping their third sun drenched single ‘Sweet Life’ in July 2021, and to celebrate are throwing one hell of a funky reggae party at The Cambridge Hotel with Novocastrian groove machines Slapjack & Saylor and the Flavor. Born out of 2020’s lockdowns, ‘Sweet Life’ celebrates the simple joys in life; friends, a couple of beers, sunshine and live music. After being conceived, written and recorded all in a spare room in Merewether, it’s time to let ‘Sweet Life’ out of the bottle. ‘We’re livin’ like we should now…’
The Appointments meld rock, reggae, blues and roots into a flavour of their own, distilling infectious grooves and melodies into a sound that shatters inhibitions. Never one to shy away from a spicy rhythm and timeless hook, The Appointments' shows have folks dancing with strangers, and singing lyrics days after the show. The band draws heavily from Bob Marley and the Wailers, Fela Kuti, Bill Withers, My Morning Jacket,Van Morssion, Protoje, Chronixx, Arctic Monkeys and Fat Freddy's Drop.
The Newcastle/ Awabakal country based 4-piece have recently scored a runner up position in the UON band comp, and are fresh from the Surflife Music festival. The Appointments have shared the stage and line ups with Andy Clockwise, The Terrys, The Rions, among other amazing local talent.
“When you watch these boys live it’s hard to comprehend how loose, yet locked in one band could be”– Yak Media.
